Six simple steps. Use the Previous and Next buttons or your keyboard's arrow keys. This is a guide to the provisional V0.2 playtest rules, not a finalized rulebook.
1. Your shared goal
Work together to help every player travel from Road 0, Forgetting, to Road 7, Remembrance, before shared Fog reaches its limit.
You can play alone or with up to six players. Nobody is eliminated for falling behind.
2. Set up the game
- Shuffle the 52 Queens, 52 Lanterns, and 13 Symbols separately.
- Give every player 3 Lanterns; solo players get 4.
- Start everyone on Road 0. Start Fog at 0.
- Shared Light begins at 2 plus the number of players, maximum 8. Solo starts with 4.
- Fog limit is 8 plus the number of players; solo uses 10. Reveal a Symbol.
3. Take a turn
- Reveal a Queen and read its path: Truth, Courage, Mercy, or Restoration.
- Play a Lantern matching the Queen's path, ask a willing player for help, or spend 2 shared Light.
- Alternatively take a Quiet Choice: put the Queen at the bottom of the deck, gain 1 Fog, and do not advance.
- For a successful match, move the active player 1 Road space and resolve relevant card effects.
- Refill hands to their limits.
4. Help one another
Another player may volunteer a matching Lantern. Helpers can offer one Lantern per other player's turn, and may earn helper progress only once per round.
Great Lanterns, Bridge effects, and Symbols can change matching or progress. Read each card carefully.
Helping must always be voluntary.
5. Watch the Fog and Symbols
At the end of each full round, add 1 Fog and reveal a new Symbol. Symbols may award shared Light, change matching, or create other special effects.
Shared Light can never exceed 12. Some effects in the digital beta require manual resolution by players.
If someone reaches Road 7, they stay in the game as a Guide and can continue helping others.
6. Reach Remembrance together
The group wins if every player reaches Road 7 before Fog reaches its limit.
If Fog reaches the limit first, the session ends without victory, but no player is blamed.
โNo one wins by making another person smaller.โ
